PALESTRANTE

Dr. Goran Jan Nilsen

Bachelor and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), was a research assistant at the Institute for Condensed Matter Physics at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland). Completed post-doctoral research at the University of Bern (Switzerland) and also at the University of Tokyo (Japan). Worked as an instrumentation scientist at the Institut Laue-Langevin (France) and has been serving as the coordinator of the polarized neutron section at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in the United Kingdom since 2015. Responsible for the design and operation of polarized instrumentation throughout the facility. Research focus primarily on inorganic and metal-organic materials, ranging from ionic conductors for energy applications to magnets. Utilizes neutron scattering as the central research technique alongside numerical simulations of physical properties, including diffuse scattering and ionic diffusion.
